Introduction

Marprom was founded on June 21st, 2011 with the purpose of guaranteeing a safe and comfortable urban transport system throughout the entire municipality of Maribor. We were originally active as a public institution but became a public company, formally known as Javno podjetje za mestni in potniški promet Marprom d. o. o., in July 2012 after an ordinance change.

We also provide other services alongside urban transport and other types of bus transport, such as maintaining vehicles, managing the ropeways and ski slopes on Pohorje, and managing public parking spaces in Maribor.

Bus transportation

Marprom carries out urban transport on altogether 21 bus routes in the municipality of Maribor. We also provide rides on integrated routes for primary schools, special routes (for schools or other purposes) in neighbouring municipalities and occasional international rides for our passengers.

Managing traffic at the Maribor bus station

In 2013, Marprom took over the managing of the traffic at the Maribor bus station. The bus station also hosts offices for administration, professional services, traffic operations, accounting and parking services.

Managing public parking spaces

Marprom has a concession agreement with the municipality of Maribor until April 2026 and manages gated parking lots on Sodna ulica, Mlinska ulica, Loška ulica and Rakušev trg. We also ensure mobile payment of parking fees for parking spaces in white zones, where we also monitor the payment of parking fees.

Vehicle repairs and maintenance

Marprom has its own workshops in Pobrežje, covering more than 2,000 m2. There is also an environmentally friendly carwash on the same location, which can clean the entire driving park, and a 6,000-m2 large bus parking lot.

Managing ropeways and ski slopes

As per a concession agreement with the municipality of Maribor, which is valid until January 2023, Marprom manages the ropeways, ski slopes and other objects on Mariborsko Pohorje. Mariborsko Pohorje and Areh are together the biggest winter sports centre in Slovenia, however, there are several summertime activities on offer as well.

Managing Bike Park Pohorje

An important segment of Marproms services on Mariborsko Pohorje is the popular bike park with its trails for downhill mountain biking (Flow, Red line and World cup). There is also a pumptrack training track close to the lower station of the Pohorska vzpenjača funicular.

Goals

Marprom’s primary goal is to offer a good and reliable urban transport system in Maribor while also managing all other services well enough to satisfy the users’ expectations and to repay their trust.

We aim to constantly improve our services, enable sustainable mobility, care for the environment, develop a strong relationship with our users and ensure good working conditions for our employees. We are also striving towards implementing a strategy of social responsibility in all aspects of our company.
